CHEMICAL METALLIZATION
Utility Silver Layer is a primary silver conductor obtained by spraying at room temperature and atmospheric pressure. It allows the metallization and/or electroplating of plastic parts.
Ideal on plastic parts from 3D printing or traditional processes.
This treatment uses CMR-free chemical solutions, adapted for use in the Metalfog.
To be able to produce metallic deposits by electroplating – metal electrodeposition process – it is essential to ensure the conductivity of the plastic parts to be treated beforehand. Now, plastic is not a conductor, like other materials: glass, wood, etc.
Si quelques solutions existent pour les matériaux et procédés de fabrication traditionnel, ils sont souvent compliqués à mettre en œuvre et contiennent des substances nocives pour l’homme et notre environnement telles que le chrome et le palladium.
Furthermore, they are not very suited to 3D-printed polymer objects which do not cope very well with the electrochemical priming phase which are too aggressive for their properties.
It is therefore to meet the requirements of users of polymer additive manufacturing that we have developed the chemical metallization process Utility Silver Layer.
Our chemical metallization process is based around a cunning mix of technologies:
Produced exclusively using the Metalfogmachine, Utility Silver Layer offers the advantage of bringing the chemical metallisation process in-house,, without risking the confidentiality of your projects.
This functional coating, , needed before any metal electrodeposition takes place, is widely used in the electroplating, telecoms, medical, aeronautics and defence industries..
It is used for various applications such as: priming for electrolytic deposit, RF/HF antennae or bactericide/germicide deposits.
The Utility Silver Layer process was designed to adapt to the mechanical and chemical characteristics of 3D-printed polymer parts. This enables you to give designs manufactured in plastic hitherto unimaginable properties.
Depositing an ultra-thin metallic layer layer is the simplest way of obtaining an ideal conducting film for the conductivity of high-performance RF/HF antennae. This is also the first stage of any electroplating deposit. There are many advantages of 3D printing and metallisation: speed of development, adaptation to requirements, cost reduction, mechanical strengthening, aesthetic appearance, etc.
